The only way we will fix these problems is not by coming up with policies based on ideological assumptions or what other states are doing; it will be when the state legislature takes teachers seriously and turns to us to help solve these problems.

As it did for many others, experiencing the school closures during 2020 shifted my professional focus. It was time to step up."

A dedicated UEA Policy Ambassador leverages personal experience and family legacy to advocate for and navigate educational policies, aiming to shape a safer and more supportive learning environment for students and educators.

The choices made on Capitol Hill directly affect students and educators every day. Yet, despite the significant impact of legislative bills on education, not all educators are involved in the creation, discussion, or objection to educational legislation that will affect them.

Our legislative system allows individuals from various backgrounds to run for office and represent their constituents. As educators, it's our responsibility to hold them accountable for that representation.

I’m a school psychologist in Jordan District. I’ve worked in Utah for over five years. Originally from Louisiana, I’ve fallen in love with this state, my community, and my fellow educators. I’m passionate about supporting my students, teachers, and families by advocating and giving them the tools they need to succeed.

Educators want to do the most for students. We have extensive training and expertise. Unfortunately, we lack the resources to meet student needs.

United, our voices are stronger. Through educator unions, we can foster a unified front that amplifies our collective voice.
