Articles of Incorporation, Constitution & Bylaws
The Articles of Incorporation, Constitution and Bylaws of the Utah Education Association define how the Association is organized and governed. The Constitution and Bylaws are reviewed on an ongoing basis and amended as needed through the annual House of Delegates — the organization’s highest governing body that convenes annually to carry out the business of the Association.
UEA Resolutions
The UEA Resolutions of the Utah Education Association are not action items but statements of our collective beliefs. They articulate the values of the Utah Education Association members. They are helpful to the UEA Legislative team and also help guide the UEA Board of Directors in between sessions of the House of Delegates.
UEA Legislative Program
The Legislative Program, which includes the Legislative Platform, Support Positions, and Priorities, requires annual adoption by the House of Delegates. The Legislative Platform is a broad, comprehensive statement of actions that legislation must accomplish. It is reviewed and updated annually, guiding and directing the UEA Legislative Team throughout each Legislative Session. The Support Positions indicate items the UEA will support through legislation if introduced; contingent on the nature of specific bills. The Legislative Priorities are those deemed by our membership to be the most important focus of the upcoming Legislative Session. They are more limited than the entire platform; ambitious but also reasonable within our resources and circumstances.
UEA Standing Rules
The Standing Rules of the Utah Education Association govern the proceedings of the annual UEA House of Delegates.
UEA Strategic Plan
The UEA Strategic Plan is developed by the UEA Board of Directors to set overall goals and objectives for the organization. The Association’s objectives reflect the priorities and needs of the membership, and the staff carries out the tactics and activities to achieve those goals and objectives.
UEA Minority Involvement Plan
The UEA supports NEA Bylaw 3-1(g) in ensuring representation by delegates of color at the NEA Representative Assembly is at least equal to the proportion of identified populations of color within the state, based on the most recent U.S. Census. The Minority Involvement Plan is achieved through collaboration between the Ethnic Minority Affairs Committee and the UEA Board of Directors to focus the Association’s efforts on ensuring equitable representation.
