Today, we stand together—educators, workers, families, and community members—as proof that when we raise our voices, we can make a difference.
Over the last several days, Utah public educators and our labor partners across the state have been clear: we will not sit silently while decisions are made that impact our students, our schools, and our profession. That collective effort—the emails, the phone calls, the petition with 15,000 signatures—moved the needle.
The second substitution for HB 267 was made public this morning, and while we are still reviewing the details, one thing is already clear: the pressure worked. Lawmakers heard us. They heard you. And while this fight is not over, it’s a testament to what’s possible when public workers stand in solidarity.
We know that change doesn’t happen because of a few voices on these steps—it happens because of thousands demanding action. It happens when educators, parents, and working people come together, united in purpose, and refuse to back down. That’s precisely what we’ve seen here. Union members across industries stood together, and it made a difference.
As UEA takes time to analyze the changes to HB 267 over the weekend, we remain committed to protecting public education and ensuring that our voices are never ignored.
Let this moment be a reminder: this is what power looks like. This is what solidarity can do. And this is why we will keep showing up.
Because when we stand together—educators, union workers, and our communities—we win. Not just today but tomorrow, the next session, and every time, we demand better for our students, our profession, and our future.
Thank you for standing with us. We are just getting started.
