UEA-PAC Recommendation Process
The UEA-PAC is committed to electing candidates who champion public education, regardless of political affiliation. Under the leadership of the UEA Board of Directors and the UEA House of Delegates, UEA-PAC ensures that education-friendly candidates are supported across all levels of government.
Candidate Recommendation Process
The UEA-PAC operates a rigorous and transparent process for endorsing candidates. Legislative candidates are interviewed by local association PACs, who then submit recommendations to UEA-PAC. For statewide offices and Utah State Board of Education positions, UEA-PAC conducts the interviews and makes recommendations directly.
How Candidates Qualify for UEA-PAC Endorsement
To be considered for endorsement, candidates must:
- Complete a comprehensive questionnaire.
- Participate in an interview process.
Incumbent legislative candidates who earned a 100% rating on the annual legislative scorecard are exempt from the questionnaire. Importantly, UEA member dues are never used to fund political parties or candidate campaigns. UEA-PAC does not oppose any candidate for office.
