The UEA Robert “Archie” Archuleta Human and Civil Rights Award is presented to an individual who has engaged in human and civil rights activities that have benefited education and had a community-wide impact. The honoree receives a monetary award of $1,500.
Nominations must be submitted by Friday, February 9, 2024.
We encourage, support, and celebrate the nomination of Black, Latin-/o/a/@/e/x, Asian American, Indigenous, and Pacific Islander educators, as well as LGBTQIA+ educators, veterans, people living with disabilities, and other educators with lived experience being part of marginalized communities.
Eligibility
- The nominee may be an educator or non-educator working for human and civil rights.
- The nominee must have provided outstanding service to education in human and civil rights and engaged in human and civil rights activities that have had a community-wide impact.
- The nominee must be a UEA member if eligible for membership.

Selection
The award nominees are carefully considered by the UEA Board of Directors. The awards are presented at the Superstars in Education banquet.
