Member Organizer Leads

Join an exciting team of fellow union members in investing in our strength. The UEA is looking for up to five members to help organize around membership growth. We are looking for dedicated members to advocate with us and strengthen our union amidst legislative attacks on our right to belong.

Application closes September 30, 2026.

Program Goals:

  • Build relationships with other locals and leaders, and UniServ staff.
  • Be trained as experts in strategic planning.
  • Work with UniServ staff to reconnect with and reclaim members lost during the transition to AutoPay.
  • Identify and address gaps in underrepresented worksites. 

Program Activities:

Fall Retreat (Nov 7, 2026):

  • Onboarding Training
  • Develop organizing plans for five targeted locals, including Hustle texting and school visits.

Team Meetings, Hustle & School Visits (Ongoing):

  • Monthly to bi-monthly team meetings. Deep collaboration and strategizing with past Co-Cohort Leaders. 
  • Use Hustle to contact members who have not yet converted from payroll deduction and new hires.
  • Track the number of members converted to AutoPay through the program.
  • Visit schools to meet fellow educators.

Lobbying Efforts (Legislative Session):

  • Monitor potential anti-union and anti-association legislation.
  • Monitor other legislative issues impacting union membership in partnership with UEA Legislative Team. 

Summer Learning Institute (2027):

  • Review program accomplishments and set goals for the upcoming year.

Additional Details:

  • $1,500 Program Participation Stipend provided at end of program.
  • Mileage and Sub Reimbursement covered.

Supporting members to grow in their professional practices.
I’m not ready to volunteer right now but I’m looking forward to staying informed.
