Building Engagement and Membership: AEA's Success

Our experiences taught us that belonging to our association involves meaningful participation.

The Alpine Education Association's (AEA) plan was to boost membership, conduct site visits, promote SmartPay adoption, and provide resources like AEA-branded water bottles, pens, snacks, and EEL packets. So far, we've exceeded our membership goal by welcoming 225 new members, conducting 29 site visits, and helping over 1,000 members switch to SmartPay. We will continue providing resources and recruiting new members while promoting SmartPay throughout the rest of the year.

Our experiences taught us that belonging to our association involves meaningful participation. Our theory of change is simple: if we provide opportunities for involvement—such as our EEL program, social events, and AR outreach—we expect to see increased membership. We believe that events like New Teacher Orientation and the Christmas movie screenings are valuable ways to connect and foster a sense of belonging among our members.

By offering opportunities for participation, including site visits and membership incentives, we expect continued growth in both membership and engagement. Moving forward, we plan to keep working closely with our UniServ membership director and UniServ board to encourage our members to be active in their community, especially as we face the possibility of a district split.
