UEA Welcomes Glenn Bafia as Interim Executive Director

Veteran educator and union leader brings decades of experience to guide UEA during leadership transition.

The Utah Education Association is pleased to welcome Glenn Bafia as interim Executive Director, effective September 2, 2025, following the retirement of Executive Director Jennifer Boehme.

Glenn brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to public education. A native of Pennsylvania, he began his career as an elementary educator in Florida, where he taught for 14 years. He went on to serve as a UniServ Director in Washington State before becoming Executive Director of the Seattle Education Association. He later worked as a UniServ Manager in Washington and spent six years as Executive Director in Alaska. Most recently, Glenn stepped out of retirement to serve as Interim Executive Director in Indiana.

“We are thrilled to have Glenn leading UEA during this important transition,” said UEA President Renée Pinkney. “His experience and steady leadership will help us continue building power for Utah public educators and students.”

With decades of leadership at every level of the Association, Glenn’s career reflects his dedication to supporting educators, strengthening unions, and advancing public education nationwide.
