The UEA, through its UEA-PAC, is proud to recommend Brian King (D) for Governor of Utah. Committed to electing candidates who champion public education, UEA-PAC supports leaders like King, who prioritize the needs of students, educators, and public schools, regardless of political affiliation.

“I have long admired the important advocacy work of the UEA in representing teachers across the state and fighting for our public schools. I have enjoyed working alongside the UEA during my 16 years in the Legislature. As governor, I will continue that partnership and strengthen the collaborative relationship between our state government and our educators, because they should always be at the forefront of education policy.”

Candidate Recommendation Process

The UEA-PAC operates a rigorous and transparent process for endorsing candidates. Legislative candidates are interviewed by local association PACs, who then submit recommendations to UEA-PAC. For statewide offices and Utah State Board of Education positions, UEA-PAC conducts the interviews and makes recommendations directly.

How Candidates Qualify for UEA-PAC Endorsement

To be considered for endorsement, candidates must:

  • Complete a comprehensive questionnaire.
  • Participate in an interview process.

Incumbent legislative candidates who earned a 100% rating on the annual legislative scorecard are exempt from the questionnaire. Importantly, UEA member dues are never used to fund political campaigns, and UEA-PAC does not oppose any candidate for office.
