The Utah Education Association (UEA) Executive Director Jennifer Boehme will retire on August 31, 2025, after nearly 33 years of service in public education.
Boehme began her career teaching sixth grade in the Jordan School District, where she taught for 24 years and served as president of the Jordan Education Association. She later became a UniServ Director before being appointed UEA Executive Director in 2021.
During her leadership, UEA experienced significant growth and stability. Membership increased by more than 5 percent since 2021, AutoPay enrollment rose from 13 to 66 percent, and the association completed the construction of its new headquarters in Murray under budget. Boehme also helped lead major policy wins, including defeating Constitutional Amendment A, the school voucher lawsuit, and the historic referendum effort to put HB 267 on the ballot.
Reflecting on her work, Boehme said, “I loved working with members on all kinds of issues, from political action to membership growth. As executive director, we moved the association forward and set it up for success.”
“Jennifer’s tenure as Executive Director has been defined by growth, stability, and impact. We are deeply grateful for her dedication, her vision, and her unwavering commitment to public education," said UEA President Renée Pinkney.
In retirement, Boehme looks forward to spending more time with family, traveling, dancing, gardening, and playing music.
Glenn Bafia will serve as interim executive director beginning in early September.
