Setting the Record Straight: How the Utah Education Association Supports Students and Educators

Discover the truth behind the UEA's commitment to student success, transparency, and responsible advocacy.

At the Utah Education Association (UEA), we prioritize student achievement and well-being in every initiative we undertake. Our mission is clear: support public educators so they can support students.

Student Success Is Our Priority:  At the UEA, student success is at the heart of everything we do. We advocate for smaller class sizes, better resources, and policies that directly enhance student outcomes and educational quality in Utah.  While working with lawmakers, community members and parents, the UEA promotes policies grounded in real classroom experience, ensuring decisions benefit both students and educators.

Collective Bargaining Benefits Students: Collective bargaining creates better learning environments by securing safe, supportive, and effective working conditions for public educators. When teachers thrive, students directly benefit with smaller classes, improved resources, and enhanced learning conditions.

Complete Financial Transparency: UEA member dues are never used for political parties or candidates. All voluntary political contributions are managed solely by the UEA Political Action Committee (UEA-PAC), with every dollar transparently reported to the state to ensure full accountability.

Dedicated Public Educators, Not Wealthy Union Leaders: UEA leaders are dedicated educators who passionately believe in supporting students and public education, not to gain personal wealth. Nearly all leaders volunteer their time, in addition to their work in the classroom. UEA leaders are voted in by members who reflect the values of their communities.
