SB183 ‘Educator Salary Amendments’ Advances Out of Committee

On Friday, February 10 the Senate Education Committee passed out favorably SB 183 (Educator Salary Amendments) sponsored by Sen. Evan Vickers (R-Cedar City).

This bill indexes the Educator Salary Adjustment and the Teacher Salary Supplement by tying them to the increase on the WPU.  In addition, in order to lose the Educator Salary Adjustment, the bill requires that an educator would now have to receive three unsatisfactory evaluations in a row.

UEA Policy and Research Director Jay Blain spoke in support of the bill saying, “This indexing would be a very good benefit for educators.” He also thanked Vickers for running the bill and encouraged everyone to support the bill.
