President Pinkney: “Uniting for Student Success and Transforming Education Together”

Dear Utah Education Association (UEA) Members,

Do you feel it? The hint of fall in the air, as you notice that the light has changed, the nighttime temperature is dropping, the birds have started their annual migration, and it’s Back-to-School time! This time of the year always provides me with a sense of hope and optimism for the future. Welcome back to school, UEA!

What I know for sure is that we are stronger together as educators. We are stronger together for our students. We are stronger together as we transform our students’ learning environments and elevate the teaching profession. Your presence, passion, and engagement are the keys to our success as we embark on this new school year. I can’t help but feel a sense of excitement for the incredible journey ahead.

You have the remarkable ability to foster a strong sense of belonging and ignite the spark of lifelong learning in each student, encouraging them to explore, question, and imagine. You are shaping the leaders, innovators, and educators of tomorrow. Your dedication is the driving force behind the transformational journey of public education.

Your dedication resonates in the growth and curiosity that fill our neighborhood public schools. Every lesson you craft, every question you pose, and every moment you spend guiding your students shape not only their academic journey but also their character and sense of self. Remember that the impact you make extends far beyond textbooks – it extends into the lives and aspirations of your students.

While the path ahead may be lined with challenges, let us remember that we are united by our dedication to protecting the promise of public education, the cornerstone of our democracy. We will face these challenges head-on, finding innovative solutions and standing tall as a beacon of hope and strength for our students. After all, student success is at the heart of everything we do.

With the deepest gratitude,

Renée Pinkney

UEA President
