Organizing Institute

Organizing Institute (EDUC5920) is a one credit graduate course for UEA members provided through Weber State University. Participants will need to enroll in all four Organizing Institute sessions (Organizing Theory, Education Policy and Social Movements, Organizing Tools and Leadership Development) to earn credit for the course. A syllabus will be sent to those registered in the Organizing Institute – There will be readings to prepare for conversations during the course. After completing the four sessions, participants engage in independent reading, and online discussion and reflection moderated by facilitators, to extend learning about each track topic.

Course will be hosted online:

  • March 9-10, 2022 | 4:30 p.m. – 6 p.m.
  • March 16-17, 2022 | 4:30 p.m. – 6 p.m.

Students will need to register with UEA and Weber State and pay the $30 recording fee to have the course appear on a transcript (we will reimburse recording fee!)

To receive a passing grade (CR) participants must:

  1. Attend all four workshop sessions.
  2. Read assigned articles for each workshop, and
  3. Participate in online discussion by responding to all assigned prompts in NEA EdCommunities.

UEA Organizing & Leadership Institute (1) – EDUC5920

Students will need to register with Weber State and pay the $30.00 recording fee to have the course to appear on a transcript, Weber State University link: https://continue.weber.edu/professional/teachertraining.aspx  Search for UEA Organizing and Leadership Institute (1) – EDUC5920 and then click on the ‘Add to cart” button. Documentation of course completion will appear on a WSU transcript. Students may order an official transcript online here .

Note that transcripts will show a CR or NC grade.
