Join UEA in Congratulating 10 Excellence in Teaching Award Winners on June 13

 

The 2023 KeyBank Superstars in Education Awards Banquet is quickly approaching! We will again celebrate amazing educators and strong advocates of public education at the Utah Cultural Celebration Center in West Valley City on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at 6 p.m.

 

The 2023 Clark and Christine Ivory Foundation/UEA Excellence in Teaching Awards are presented to ten Utah public school educators whose efforts in the classroom have significantly impacted the life of Utah children. Each awardee will receive $1,500 from The Clark and Christine Ivory Foundation. This year’s winners are:

 

                Emma Walton, Alpine Education Association

                Andrew Arnold, Davis Education Association

                Bridgit Grimm, Emery Education Association

                Sharon Hall, Granite School District 

                Elizabeth Blunck, Jordan Education Association

                Lara Rude, Park City Education Association

                Sarah Machol, Salt Lake Education Association

                Rebecca Ford, Tooele Education Association

                Jami Lang, Weber Education Association

                Tanya Hunt, Weber Education Association

 

Alongside the 2023 The Clark and Christine Ivory Foundation/UEA Excellence in Teaching Award recipients, the UEA will honor the following admirable individuals who have positively impacted education and our Association:

 

  • Connie Crosby, McKinney-Vento Liaison for the Canyons School District: The Robert “Archie” Archuleta Human and Civil Rights Award. This award is presented to an individual who has engaged in human and civil rights activities that have benefited education and had a community-wide impact. Connie will receive $1,500 and an award plaque.

 

  • Roz Van Vleet, Davis Education Association: The Elaine Tzourtzouklis Service to Association Award. This award honors an individual who has provided outstanding service to the Association in the area of member advocacy, political action, leadership, collaboration and/or coalition building. Roz will receive $1,500 and an award plaque in her honor.

 

  • Karthik Nadesen, Attorney at Nedesen Beck: The UEA Honor Roll Award. This award recognizes individuals, businesses or organizations that have significantly contributed to public education. No monetary award is given as sometimes these are public servants or corporations. However, Karthik will be recognized with a plaque as with the other award recipients during the banquet.

 

  • Lara Rude, Park City Education Association: UEA Nominee for the NEA Foundation Awards for Teaching Excellence.  In addition to being recognized as one of the UEA Excellence in Teaching award recipients, Lara has also been nominated for the NEA Foundation Award for Teaching Excellence. She will also be honored at the NEA Foundation Gala in Washington, DC in 2024.

Individual Attendance: $100.  Includes dinner for two.

Superstar Sponsorship: $550. Includes dinner for two and recognition on printed materials as a Superstar Sponsor.

Hero Sponsorship: $300. Does not include guest seats; table sponsorship is solely for an award winner’s family and guests. UEA will recognize you or your company as a Hero Sponsor on printed materials.
