Educators Share Experiences with Lawmakers during ‘Welcome to My Classroom’

The Utah Education Association (UEA) believes a teacher’s influence is most powerful in the classroom. To share their personal experiences, the union invited state lawmakers, Utah State Board of Education members, and representatives from the governor’s office to a panel discussion, “Welcome to My Classroom; Recruiting, Retaining and Supporting Utah’s Educators.”

Chad Warnick (Millard Education Association), Dawn Amendola Francis (Salt Lake Education Association), Elise Maxwell (Salt Lake Education Association) and Heather Reich (Jordan Education Association) shared the challenges and rewards during the event held on January 10, 2023.

“I found it inspiring to hear from active educators about the good things happening in their schools along with requests from legislators for the upcoming session,” UEA Executive Director Jennifer Boehme said.

Educators’ voices are critical to the policymaking process. Association members are encouraged to sign up here to participate in UEA’s “Educator Day on the Hill” each Friday during the session. Educator Day on the Hill begins January 20, 2023.
