Mittendorf has taught special education at the elementary and middle school levels and most recently was the Title IX Coordinator at Davis School District. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Cultural Anthropology, a Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education, a Master of Human Resource Management is currently a PhD doctoral candidate at Utah State University in the School of Teacher Education and Leadership.
“Schools are the cornerstone of our nation’s democracy,” said Mittendorf. “I look forward to leading UEA to a place where each member not only recognizes this but feels affirmed and empowered to act in ways which support this notion.”
Advocating for social and racial justice is Mittendorf’s passion as demonstrated by her participation in various community organizations such as FAM Utah, the NAACP, the Utah Black Educators Network and the National Alliance of Black School Educators. For her efforts, Mittendorf was recipient of the 2022 UEA Archie Archuleta Human and Civil Rights Award. In her downtime, Bianca enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and reading.
The Equity and Membership Director is a new position at the UEA. The work includes prioritizing association racial and social justice work within the scope of priorities set by the UEA Board of Directors and implementing an effective equity program with specific goals and activities. Mittendorf will also support the membership work of UEA as part of the UEA membership team and in support of regional field staff, through organizing campaigns and programs.
