New director at Ogden-Weber UniServ
The Ogden-Weber UniServ has appointed Weber School District resource teacher and former UEA Board member Barbera Whitman as UniServ director. She replaces Matt Ogle who resigned after accepting a position in his home state of Oregon.
“I have always loved advocating for students and my profession as a teacher,” said Whitman. “I now get the opportunity to affect more student lives in my new position by advocating for those who touch student's lives. I am one lucky girl!”
Whitman has always worked with youth, but did not begin her career as a teacher. In 1996, she worked as a supervisor at Farmington Bay Youth Center and later as a counselor at the Utah State Department of Youth Corrections. She obtained her teaching license in 2003 and became a behavior unit teacher in Weber School District, then worked as a resource teacher for five years at Washington Terrace Elementary and five years at Roy High School.
From 2009 to 2011, Whitman served as the ethnic minority representative on the UEA Board of Directors. She also served on the Weber Education Association Executive Board of Directors.
The Ogden-Weber UniServ serves educators in Ogden and Weber School Districts.
