About the Association’s Participation in Elections
Because of the important role elected officials play in public education, the NEA, UEA and each local UniServ have Political Action Committees comprised of local educator members. One role of these committees is to recommend candidates they believe are most likely to have a positive impact on public education and issues important to public education employees.

2022 General Election Results
Most candidates recommended by Utah state and local education political action committees were successful on November 8. Of the 39 races where state and local PACs recommended candidates during the 2022 General Election, 33 candidates won and four lost. Two races remain too close to call. “We appreciate the hard work of campaign volunteers and those who contributed to association political action committees,” said UEA Government Relations Director Chase Clyde. “Our students and educators are the real winners when we elect education-friendly candidates.”
