Treasure Mountain Junior High School media specialist Heidi Matthews was elected by her public school teacher peers to serve a three-year term as president of the Utah Education Association. She was elected in a statewide vote of UEA-member educators held March 24-April 15.
Matthews has 28 years of public school teaching experience. She has served as an elected member of the Board of Directors of the National Education Association representing Utah since 2014 and was president of the Park City Education Association from 2009 to 2012.
Matthews succeeded Sharon Gallagher-Fishbaugh who served the maximum two terms in the position, beginning in 2010.
