What I learned about UEA that surprised me:

"I am pleasantly surprised at the vast number of things UEA does for its members. I joined simply because I wanted to support my negotiation body, but it is lobbying for educators, forming alliances with individuals and organizations that impact education, educating members, support of members."

"WCEA President Kathleen Cheshire approached me about running for membership on the WCEA board which I had never considered but decided I had the time and desire to do that. I was elected to serve and have enjoyed my time there. I have served as our representative for U-PAC since I have been on the board. I have learned to realize the importance of UEA in political activity. I whole heartedly support U-PAC and spend time educating WCEA members on the value of supporting U-PAC. I have been a part of the negotiating team since my service began on the WCEA board as well as being a part of the district insurance committee."

What I value most about the Association:

"The educational experience and expertise of our leadership. Our leadership has important ties to and is respected by those who over see Utah education and those who make Utah education law."

How members might begin to be more active in the Association:

"Our members have got to learn how important the Association is and the vital role they have in education policy."
